The suburb of Woolloomooloo (a prime area) is in the former docklands area at the tip of Woolloomooloo Bay in Sydney Harbour. It was originally a poor working class district, but redevelopment of the waterfront and gentrification led to the construction of a hotel, restaurants, and apartment complexes on Finger Wharf. Actor Russell Crowe lives in a $14 million penthouse apartment here. There are more affordable properties that range from $200,000 to $1.2 million, depending on location and views.

Finger Wharf is Woolloomooloo’s most identifiable landmark, being the largest wooden structure in the world at a length of 400 metres and width of 63 metres according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Despite the pricier residences on Finger Wharf, areas of cheaper public housing still exist in Woolloomooloo.
