The inner city suburb of Pyrmont (a prime area) was once a predominantly industrial region before it was gentrified into an in-demand residential zone. Most of the old warehouses and buildings have been converted into apartments, townhouses or multi-storey residential blocks. One such development is Jackson’s Landing.
The suburb has a number of heritage sites. Pyrmont Square displays buildings constructed during the 1800s and 1900s. Pyrmont Fire Station is a fine example of the Federation style of architecture. Pyrmont also has two big markets: the Sydney Fish Market and the Good Living Growers Market.
Major corporations operate in Pyrmont, including the Network 10 studios, the Seven Network production studios, Vodafone and Nokia Australia, and the famous Star City Casino.
