Binh Thanh is a district of Ho Chi Minh City with 20 wards. The district was created in 1976, when Binh Hoa and Thanh My Tay districts were removed from Go Vap district and combined to create Binh Thanh.

A new bridge now links Binh Thanh to District 2, and officials hope that it will help ease traffic congestion in the city. Some areas in Binh Thanh are being developed as satellite cities.
