Qatar – in the middle of its housing crash – has finally decided to remove its residential rent cap, allowing landlords and tenants to negotiate rents freely.
This will be a great relief for landlords, who are now seeing their property prices plunge after massive over-building in the Emirate.
The rental market remains relatively firm. Qatar's residential rental market was flat over the last three months of 2009, but saw a some increase in interest from tenants towards the end of the quarter, according to Property services firm Asteco.
