The Moscow government is currently working on a plan to expand the Russian capital's boundaries, and is eyeing land plots in the west of the city for development. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow Region Governor Boris Gromov agreed to formulate a plan for expansion after a directive from Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

Federal lands will probably be used. There are currently eight plots under consideration, including the Sberbank-held Rublyovo-Arkhangelksoye and territory in Domodedovo owned by billionaire businessman and real estate investor Vasily Anisimov.
