Average House Price (in British Pounds)
June, 15, 2017
United Kingdom. Nationwide is arguably the most reliable source of British house price data. Various time-series can be sourced from this agency, such as regional house price series, quarterly and monthly indices, inflation adjusted prices and prices by type of dwellings. The data stretch back to as early as 1952 on a quarterly basis and 1991 on a monthly basis. Halifax publishes nominal and seasonally-adjusted house price statistics by house category (all, new and existing) and type of buyers (all, first-time buyers and home-movers). It stretches back to 1983. The Land Registry also releases a monthly house price index for each of the ten Government Office Regions (GORs) of England and Wales. It started in January 1995.
House Price Change, year-on-year
Quarterly Change in house prices
|% change over a quarter (QoQ)|
This table shows the change in house prices during a single quarter.
The figures are not adjusted for inflation, so may overstate house price rises (or understate declines).
Four quarter's house price changes may NOT sum to the annual (year-on-year) change in house prices, for statistical reasons.
